Oct 14 2011

I got rained out today so decided to head up to
the Adirondack Museum for the day...I found out
it was closing this weekend so this worked out
perfect...There were way too many pictures so I
have only put about a third of them up...

Looking across Lake George...

A women from Texas has been here 8 years building
canoes by hand...It takes her about 2 summers to build
one canoe...

A comparison of 3 types of canoes...The birch
bark one weighs only 47 lbs where the middle
dugout canoe weighs over 150 lbs...The other
was too rotted to give a true weight.

A one room schoolhouse.

This was in the schoolhouse...Notice anything
wrong?

A cool coat rack.

A sign oh where my parents grew up.

This is a section of a blister from a birch tree. It
weighed over 2 tons and was over 6 feet tall.

An over 250 year old tree. My cell phone
in the middle to compare.

Horse drawn snow plow and snow roller.

This was a picture of a lake full of logs.

Over looking Blue Mountain Lake.

I spent the day up on the lot dodging rain...It mostly
was misting but I did have some times of heavy down
pours...
Because of the rain I wasnt able to drive up into the
lot so I walked up to my cousins roadway cutting some blow
down trees that were blocking the road with a saw and
ax...Some great exercise!
Afterwards I started working on our roadway cutting back
the overgrown trees and bushes but then got rained out...
I went into town for lunch and by the time I was done it
had cleared up so I went back to working on our access
road...I cleaned this about 4 years ago but a lot of pines and
hemlocks had grown back in so I had to cut them all out...Plus
I had to start tearing down a stone wall so we could drive in
easier...
I then headed home to clean up and get ready to have dinner
with my aunt and uncle who were up for the week along with
Tim and Laurie...
Video shows my progress for the day...

After getting up north I spent a lot of time up
on the family lot starting to clean it up from the
summer rain storms and I also spent some time
practicing bow shooting as well as some time in
the tree stands looking to see what I may catch
wandering through the woods...Sadly I didnt see
anything...
On the 12th before going back to the lot I went
down to Lake George and took a few pictures...
